Bio/Research

Comondore (Ravi) Ravindran of Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) has made innovative contributions in steel making and continuous casting and forming, particularly billet casting, microalloyed steel technology, liquid steel processing, cleanliness and rolling. He has also led major advances in process and quality of ductile iron castings and heat treatment. He established the first university-based and interdisciplinary applied research for lost foam (near-net-shape) casting of aluminum alloys and technology transfer in Canada. He is the Director of the Centre for Near-net-shape Processing of Materials (CNPM) at Toronto Metropolitan University. His current research is focused on development and processing of aluminum and magnesium alloys and composites, lightweighting, reduced emissions, recycling and environment. Past President of CAE and ASMI, he has been serving materials engineering profession and community worldwide.
