Bio/Research

Cole Lewis (she/her) is a writer and director from St. Catharines, Ontario. She is the Artistic Director of Guilty by Association and has a MFA in Directing from Yale School of Drama.

Most recently she wrote and directed the Dora-nominated 1991 which was presented by Why Not Theatre’s RISER Project through her company Guilty by Association. She also directed Redshift Music Society’s Still Life Continuum at Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre; conceived and directed These Violent Delights at SummerWorks; Moderato Cantabile at SummerWorks; and Ain’t Gonna Make It at ArsNova’s AntFest. Select directing credits include Anne Carson’s Antigonick at SummerWorks, Hansol Jung’s Cardboard Piano at Carlotta Festival, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet at SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts, and The Visit at Yale School of Drama. Lewis originated the direction and co-wrote Suitcase in Point’s Dora-nominated Keith Richards: A One Woman Show.

Upcoming projects include adapting Kyo Maclear’s Virginia Wolf for a MainStage production in the 2021 Season of Montreal’s Geordie Theatre, and writing/directing Untitled Nurse Project with a seed commission from Stratford Festival.
