Bio/Research

Dr. Anthony Chan is a seasoned researcher, award-winning teacher and community servant-leader. In 2021, he was named a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, the highest honour the accounting profession bestows for his lifetime achievement and outstanding contributions to the profession and community. He has participated in the World Bank-KPMG Consulting Project to develop a training curriculum for the National Accounting Institute in the People's Republic of China. He has also served as an External Assessor for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) to evaluate research grant applications from 2007 to 2012 and 2018.

Dr. Chan served as a member of the Training, Colleges and Universities Policy Advisory Council in Ontario, Canada, from 2001 to 2003 to advise the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities on long-term policies and current issues on post-secondary education in Ontario. He has also been a member of the Council's Accountability Committee. Dr. Chan hosted a weekly radio program on Fairchild Radio (the largest multicultural radio station for the Chinese community in Canada) from 1998 to 2001 and in 2005. He also wrote a weekly column for Sing Tao Daily (a leading Chinese newspaper in Canada) from 1998 to 2002 and 2005 to 2006. He is frequently invited as speaker for meetings of charity and professional organizations and as commentator in multicultural TV and radio news programs. He was President of the Toronto Chinese Writers Association (2010-2012) and is an honorary advisor and board director of not-for-profit social service organizations. He received the Ontario Volunteer Service Award, Canada, in 2011 and the Toronto Chinese Media Award, Canada, in 2012.
